One man’s assassination shakes the nation.
Dozens of children slaughtered in mass shootings barely register a headline. ![]()
Anyone else see the problem?
We live in a country where the death of a political figure is treated as a national tragedy, while the routine burying of our children has become background noise.
Can we also talk about how here we are yet again idolizing a man who built his platform on judgment and control, and let’s not forget what he stood for…
Christian nationalism, insisting “This is a Christian state. I’d like to see it stay that way.”
Outlawing abortion under all circumstances, calling it “murder” without exceptions.
Believes women prioritizing self-care is selfish.
Demonizing liberals, branding opponents as champions of “everything God hates.”
Hostility toward LGBTQ+ people, attacking trans identities and calling love outside his definition “wrong.”
Protecting guns at any cost, even calling mass gun deaths an “acceptable cost of freedom.”
Here’s the truth…when people are the loudest, most judgey, and obsessed with policing everyone else’s life, it says nothing about the people they’re attacking.
It says everything about them…
Do I dare say it? Charlie Kirk was a bully.
And bullies hide behind pulpits, podiums, and platforms when they’re afraid of their own shadows.
It is one thing to speak your truth.
It is one thing to stand up for what you believe in.
It becomes toxic/abusive/bullying (whichever label you prefer), when you put others down.
When you’re mean.
When you disregard any other human as less than or not welcome.
And we have became a society where far too many people think their way is the only way and somehow have this wild idea that they are entitled to tell others how to live or in some cases even enforce how they can or can’t live.
Let me be clear: I don’t give a flying fuck what you, your Bible, your pastor, priest (or whatever title you slap on them) say I’m “supposed” to do.
No seriously. Zero fucks given.
Because every Bible version (3k+) is someone’s interpretation.
Every church (45k+) is someone’s spin.
Every preacher (5m+) is just another imperfect human interpreting words to fit their agenda.
And none of them can even agree on anything…
Why does it have to be so literal?
Why does it have to be this or that, right or wrong, good or bad?
And for the love of all things holy, WHY are there so many damn rules and fucking labels/boxes?
Here’s an idea…how about if we stop obsessing over imposing personal beliefs onto others and stop shaming people who don’t live by your rules.
If this country spent half the energy protecting kids as it does protecting ideology, maybe today’s headlines would look different. ![]()
If any of this makes you uncomfortable, I am happy to have a conversation. If you want to be mean, I will instead suggest you use your time and energy to check out that new town being built in Arkansas…
And let me be really fucking clear…I don’t condone violence, I have immense sympathy for his loved ones, especially his children, AND I won’t idolize a bully while we keep normalizing the mass graves of our children.
I am just another imperfect human over here living and growing every day and we happen to share this beautiful planet together.
If you’re looking for your tribe, here’s what I (and we; my tribe) stand for:
Faith as something personal —> not a weapon, not a mandate. Every human has the right to decide what faith means for themselves (regardless of which “Christian state” they were born in).
Empathy, agency, and the complexity of real lives. No lawmaker or preacher (or anyone) should have more say over a woman’s body than she does..
Self-care is essential to your health and wellbeing. Period. I will NOT standby as yet another generation is told that their worth is in their service, their silence, or their sacrifice. FUCK THAT!
Compassion over culture wars. People don’t need labels to prove they’re good, kind, or worthy of dignity.
Listening to evidence, protecting our planet, and leaving a world behind that our kids and grandkids can actually survive in.
Love without labels.Love is love. Every human deserves the right to exist authentically.
Choosing our children over weapons every single time. Freedom doesn’t have to mean burying kids. Protecting kids should matter more than protecting egos or money. PERIOD.
And I’ll stand on this soapbox any day if it helps even one person feel less alone in choosing their own path.
Because at the end of the day, I’d rather live in alignment with my soul than with someone else’s rules.
And that’s the gospel truth.
There are enough assholes out there, be a good human.
Until next time, here’s to living your life by design, not default.
